That pattern is one of the most reliable signs in the well business. Water is leaving your system somewhere, and if every fixture inside the house is dry and tight, the most likely place it is going is into the ground, out of the buried line running between your wellhead and your house.

Repairing one spot makes sense when the line is modern poly in good shape, the leak is clearly a single event like a rock wear point, the run is short, and the pipe elsewhere looks healthy when you have it exposed.

Replacing the whole run makes more sense when the line is galvanized or steel, when it is the second or third leak in a few years, when the existing line is undersized for what the property now demands, or when the trench has to be opened anyway. Once a machine and an operator are on site, the marginal cost of pulling new pipe the rest of the way is far lower than coming back in two years to do it all again.

There is also a capacity argument worth considering. Plenty of older properties around Quincy and Moses Lake have a 3/4 inch service line feeding a house that has since added bathrooms, a shop, or irrigation and livestock demand.
